Much of
James's work takes the form of
mixed media collages, combining a variety of materials,
imagery and found-objects, to create richly layered and textured pieces
that explore our perception of and relationship to the world around us.
Drawing and mark-making also play a key role in James's practice, primarily on-site, for documenting and interpreting different environments.
In addition James uses photography to document his own and others interaction with a place or an artwork, sometimes layering several images together to make connections between them and suggest a more total, holistic experience.
